Health Care Assistant (HCA) / Medical Assistant is an onsite, full-time role in Portland, ME, scheduled for 30–37.5 hours per week; pay starts at $22 per hour. The HCA supports patients administratively and clinically as a first point of contact in the health center. The role helps deliver patient-centered care through check-in, scheduling, basic clinical procedures, education, and support for clinicians.

What you'll do

• Greet patients and assist with check-in, check-out, and visit questions
• help with insurance, payments, scheduling, and eligibility for state-funded plans or programs
• answer calls and maintain records
• take vital signs, draw blood, give injections, and assist with lab tests
• provide patient education and support informed consent
• document in the electronic health record
• maintain stocked, clean exam rooms and assist clinicians after required training.
