Peer Support Specialist I

The Peer Support Specialist I role is onsite in Buffalo, NY, paying $23–$25 per hour. Spectrum Health & Human Services partners with adults, children, and families seeking recovery from behavioral, emotional, mental health, or substance-related disorders. The specialist provides peer support to people enrolled in the agency’s CCBHC. The work includes advocacy, outreach, recovery support, crisis and transitional support, community connections, and assistance with individualized goals and independent living skills.

What you'll do

• Provide advocacy, outreach, engagement, self-help tools, peer recovery support and counseling, transitional support, and pre-crisis and crisis support
• assist people transitioning between service systems or settings
• support self-advocacy, self-efficacy, community connections, independent living skills, individualized action-plan goals, and WRAP planning
• and use electronic data systems to document services.

Why this role

Applicants must be current or former recipients of behavioral health services and hold a New York Certified Peer Specialist or OASAS Certified Peer Advocate credential. A personal vehicle and valid driver’s license are required.
