Youth Engagement Specialist

The Youth Engagement Specialist role is onsite in Santa Clara, CA. Pay is $25.37–$27.35 per hour. The position is temp-to-hire and supports a nonprofit residential program serving young adults ages 18–24 who are overcoming homelessness. The specialist helps maintain safe, consistent shelter and transitional-living services through supervision, engagement, crisis response, and daily operations. The role supports young adults’ safety, stability, and independence while maintaining professional boundaries and coordinating with a multidisciplinary team.

What you'll do

• Supervise shelter operations and facility areas
• conduct entry screening and scheduled wellness checks
• secure prohibited items under safety procedures
• provide phone and door coverage
• respond to crisis and resource inquiries
• provide crisis prevention and intervention under established protocols
• build rapport and encourage participation in activities
• supervise residents during outings and appointments
• teach basic life skills
• lead a youth group or activity at least monthly
• maintain shift notes, logs, incident reports, and ETO database notes
• inspect common areas for cleanliness and safety.
