Substance Use Disorder Counselor and Assessor

The Substance Use Disorder Counselor and Assessor role is onsite in Upper Darby, PA, with a Monday–Friday schedule from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Compensation is not specified. The position supports MVP Recovery's outpatient substance use disorder treatment program. The counselor assesses treatment needs, provides individual and group counseling, and connects clients with appropriate care and community resources to support recovery and wellness.

What you'll do

• Conduct comprehensive substance use disorder assessments and clinical interviews
• use ASAM Criteria to recommend and document level of care
• connect clients with services and resources
• coordinate with internal staff and outside providers
• provide individual counseling and facilitate therapeutic and psychoeducational groups
• develop treatment plans and monitor progress
• use evidence-informed approaches
• recognize co-occurring concerns and refer appropriately
• use de-escalation and crisis-intervention skills
• complete clinical documentation
• participate in supervision, consultation, meetings, and training.
