Prior Authorization Specialist

What you'll do

• Review insurance requirements to determine whether prior authorization is needed
• identify tests that may require authorization
• review chart documentation and requisitions
• coordinate with clients to obtain medical documentation
• submit accurate requests by phone, website, software, or fax
• follow up with insurance carriers
• notify the appropriate revenue cycle department of status
• maintain knowledge of payer policies
• and comply with HIPAA.
