The Cyber Security IT Engineer role is onsite at the Monticello Nuclear Generating Plant in Monticello, MN. The anticipated annual base pay is $110,000–$145,000. Xcel Energy serves electricity and natural gas customers and works to provide safe, reliable, and sustainable energy. The Cyber Security Lead protects critical digital assets at the nuclear plant by managing assessments, security controls, vulnerability risks, and regulatory compliance. The role works with plant departments and supports inspections, audits, self-assessments, and benchmarking for the Nuclear Cyber Security Program.

What you'll do

• Manage identification, classification, assessment, and documentation of critical digital assets
• evaluate new and modified systems for cybersecurity impacts
• ensure defensive architecture and controls are implemented
• review vendor advisories and vulnerabilities
• assess software updates, patches, and configuration changes
• coordinate mitigation and risk documentation
• conduct peer reviews, approve system changes and technical designs, mentor team members, and support NRC inspections and audits.
