Nutrition Navigator

Job overview

The Nutrition Navigator role is onsite in Penn Yan, NY, with pay of $19–$20 per hour. Catholic Charities Steuben/Livingston serves people in a safe, welcoming environment and works to build communities that care for all people. The navigator increases participation in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) by providing outreach and application assistance. The role also builds community partnerships and helps address barriers that prevent eligible individuals and families from accessing benefits.

What you'll do

• Develop a community outreach plan with program partners
• provide accurate SNAP information and outreach materials
• prescreen individuals and families for potential eligibility and assist with applications
• refer people to nutrition programs and community resources
• work with community stakeholders to address access barriers
• maintain program records and reports
• monitor expenditures and budget
• attend meetings and training
• participate in county outreach events, which may include evenings and weekends
• coordinate with Emergency Services programs and occasionally assist with food distribution.
