What you'll do

• Evaluate residents for mental, emotional, and behavioral disorders
• diagnose conditions and recommend treatment
• assess mental status and symptom severity, including need for higher-level care or observation
• provide psychotherapy or counseling
• refer to psychiatrists or other licensed professionals as appropriate
• monitor medication compliance and refer possible side effects
• train staff on suicide-risk recognition, prevention, and crisis intervention
• maintain records and required reports
• consult with physicians or psychiatrists
• participate in quality-of-care review.
