Mill Operator – CNC Machining

Job overview

The Mill Operator – CNC Machining role is onsite in Hickory, NC. Compensation is $22–$32 per hour. The position supports a small, fast-paced precision-manufacturing team and reports to the Shop Foreman. The machinist independently sets up and operates CNC and manual equipment, taking jobs from technical drawings through finished parts. The role contributes to production quality and efficiency through programming, inspection, coordination, and support for less experienced machinists.

What you'll do

• Set up and operate CNC mills, CNC lathes, and water-jet equipment
• plan job sequencing and select tooling and fixtures
• program mills and edit basic CNC programs
• interpret technical drawings and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing
• inspect parts with precision instruments
• report quality and equipment issues
• provide scheduling updates and mentor less experienced machinists
• maintain a safe, organized work area.
