Job overview

The Cook role is onsite in Roanoke, VA, and pays $17–$18 per hour. The role helps provide timely, accurate meals that meet residents’ dietary needs and applicable sanitation requirements. It includes preparing and serving food according to menus, recipes, portion and temperature controls, and checking special-diet trays for accuracy.

What you'll do

• Prepare and cook resident meals in quantities based on menus and the number of people served
• follow cooking methods and temperatures
• clean work areas and equipment
• check prepared food for recipe compliance, taste, and appearance
• meet serving schedules
• serve meals according to dietary guidelines and check trays for completeness and accuracy
• monitor portion control
• prepare food for personnel, families, visitors, and special events as directed
• inspect special-diet trays
• attend in-service education programs.
