Building Aide – Head Start Program

Job overview

The Building Aide – Head Start Program role is onsite in Lansing, MI; compensation starts at $15.10 per hour. The position supports Capital Area Community Services’ Head Start and Early Childhood Programs at its Pine Street location. The aide helps maintain clean, safe, and welcoming facilities for children, families, staff, and visitors. Duties include custodial work, meal-service support, classroom and bus assistance, and general maintenance, with agency-wide facility support during summer months.

What you'll do

• Support meal service and classroom supply inventory
• receive and portion prepared meals
• follow CACFP procedures
• provide classroom and bus assistance as needed
• greet and direct visitors
• clean kitchen, floors, restrooms, and other areas
• manage waste and supplies
• shovel snow and apply salt as needed
• set up and take down equipment
• perform general maintenance and facility support, including moving equipment, cleaning carpets, painting, and routine building checks.
