Mining Engineer

The Mining Engineer will assist the Mining Group in all aspects of mine engineering and mining operations. This is an onsite role based in San Bernardino, CA, with a salary range of $105,000 to $135,000 per year. CalPortland is a leading producer of cement and construction materials, and this role supports the mining department's operational efficiency. The role exists to optimize mining methods, manage resource planning, and ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations. The engineer will utilize specialized software to develop mine plans, oversee exploratory projects, and perform site surveying to support the company's long-term resource management goals.

What you'll do

• Assist in performing mine engineering and mine planning activities
• Learn and administer all company policies and safety procedures
• Work and communicate with other engineering disciplines
• Develop an understanding of the cement and aggregate manufacturing process
• Estimate mineral deposits and develop life of mine design
• Develop and annually revise mine plans using Surpac and MineSched
• Oversee mining projects such as exploratory drilling
• Analyze and evaluate mining operations
• Perform surveying and plant inventory functions
• Interface with plant, corporate personnel, and contractors
• Perform exploration and exploratory work
• Work with the environmental division
• Operate as a commercial drone pilot.
