The Psychiatrist – Veterans’ Mental Health role is onsite in Memphis, TN, with a Monday–Friday schedule from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and an on-call rotation; compensation is not specified. The psychiatrist provides services at the Lt. Col. Luke Weathers, Jr. VA Medical Center, serving veterans across inpatient, outpatient, and specialty mental health settings. The psychiatrist evaluates and treats patients, develops individualized plans, coordinates transitions of care, and contributes clinical expertise to peer review. The role supports comprehensive mental health care for veterans in collaboration with VA staff and multidisciplinary teams.

What you'll do

• Collaborate with VA Mental Health staff on inpatient care
• manage patient caseloads
• see psychiatry ward patients
• admit and diagnose patients
• develop and deliver treatment plans
• coordinate discharge and transfer
• complete medical records
• evaluate new outpatient referrals
• provide care for severely mentally ill patients
• perform evaluation, disposition, and e-consult services
• conduct post-discharge follow-up within 30 days
• examine clinic patients and interpret reports
• participate in peer review of selected cases, complaints, and benefit appeals.
