The Youth Sports Coach role is an in-person AmeriCorps service position in New Castle County, Delaware, with weekly availability between 8:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, for 15–25 hours per week and 900 total service hours. The stipend is $12,150 over the service term, with a $3,697.50 Segal Service Award upon successful completion of the requirements. Coach Across America and Strive use sports and character-driven leadership programming to support youth. The coach helps young people build confidence, leadership, athletic ability, and healthy habits through physical education, sports, tutoring, and structured youth programming. The role creates safe, inclusive spaces and supports students’ social-emotional and academic development.

What you'll do

• Support or lead physical education classes
• supervise students during lunch and recess
• provide tutoring and homework assistance
• facilitate Strive programming
• lead or assist structured recess and sports activities
• provide individual and small-group support
• reinforce social-emotional skills
• help gather surveys and roster information
• attend required training and complete service requirements.
