The Senior Materials & Processes Engineer, Thermal Protection Systems & Soft Goods role is onsite in Long Beach, CA. Compensation is $124,000–$186,000 per year. The Materials and NDE team supports Terran R flight, reuse, and scale. The engineer owns materials and processes for thermal protection systems and non-metallic soft goods, supporting qualification, characterization, and reliable use on the vehicle. The role develops specifications and standards, leads experimental design and process improvement, and works across engineering, laboratory, manufacturing, reliability, and leadership teams.

What you'll do

• Serve as cognizant materials and processes engineer for Terran R thermal protection systems and non-metallic soft goods
• identify qualification envelopes
• develop test plans, conduct characterization campaigns, and analyze data
• develop and maintain technical specifications and engineering standards
• lead statistically driven experimental design and process improvement
• coordinate with materials, laboratory, responsible, manufacturing, reliability, supply chain, fracture control, and leadership teams.
