Medical Billing Coder

Job overview

The Medical Billing Coder role is onsite in Wooster, OH, with a Monday–Friday schedule from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Pay is $18.69–$28.03 per hour. The coder supports Wooster Community Hospital’s revenue cycle team. The role reviews and codes clinic and hospital services so claims can be billed accurately and compliantly. It also helps resolve claim issues and supports timely reimbursement through coordination with providers and practice managers.

What you'll do

• Review, abstract, and assign CPT/HCPC and ICD-10 codes to clinic visits and hospital services
• use encoder software to code claims compliantly
• review and resolve rejected, denied, or unpaid claims
• report coding and billing trends to management
• consult with practice staff on coding questions
• maintain coding credentials and continuing education
• research unpaid claims and submit appeals as needed
• research and resolve credit balances.

Why this role

Coding/billing program training or certification required; must be certified upon hire or pass the certification exam within three months. Three years of medical office billing experience preferred. Schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m., 40 hours FTE.
