Test Technician

Job overview

The Test Technician role is onsite in Muncie, IN, with second-shift hours Monday–Friday, 2:00 p.m.–10:30 p.m., or third-shift hours Sunday–Thursday, 9:30 p.m.–6:00 a.m. (or 7:30 p.m.–6:00 a.m. with overtime). Compensation is $27–$34 per hour. Sterling Engineering is recruiting for a contract-to-hire position supporting locomotive testing. The technician tests electrical, mechanical, and electronic locomotive systems and subassemblies, troubleshoots defects, and documents test results. Accurate testing and adherence to safety procedures help ensure systems meet specifications before shipment.

What you'll do

• Test locomotive systems and subassemblies
• identify, troubleshoot, and repair defects
• conduct locomotive track testing under safety and operational procedures
• follow written work instructions
• record test data and measurements
• set up test equipment and instrumentation
• operate locomotives and material-handling equipment as needed
• interpret gauges, schematics, and precision instruments.
