Assistant Teacher, Child Care is an onsite, part-time role in Alexandria, MN, paying $15–$17 per hour, Monday through Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., with no evenings or weekends. The Alexandria Area YMCA’s child care program provides a nurturing setting where children learn through play, exploration, and positive relationships. Working with Lead Teachers and child care staff, the assistant supports classroom routines and age-appropriate activities while helping children stay safe, develop, and learn.

What you'll do

• Assist the Lead Teacher with age-appropriate activities and daily routines
• maintain a safe, welcoming classroom and actively supervise children
• encourage social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development through positive interactions and play
• communicate with parents about children’s daily experiences
• assist with organization, cleaning, and documentation
• support licensing and YMCA policy compliance
• take on additional classroom responsibilities when assigned.
