The Machine Learning Researcher role is onsite at Rainmaker’s headquarters in El Segundo, CA. Compensation is $160,000–$220,000 per year. Rainmaker is developing cloud-seeding systems to increase precipitation, improve water availability, and address severe-weather challenges. As the company’s first dedicated machine learning researcher, this hands-on individual contributor identifies high-value applications, builds and evaluates models, and works with scientists and engineers to move useful research into operations. The work turns proprietary atmospheric observations and intervention data into improved estimates, predictions, and operational decisions.

What you'll do

• Prioritize machine learning projects
• deliver an operationally useful model or prototype within the first three months
• build forecasting, retrieval, multimodal estimation, simulation, and intervention-analysis models
• develop datasets and evaluation methods
• assess calibration, uncertainty, generalization, and failure modes
• collaborate with atmospheric scientists and engineers
• communicate results and limitations.
