Job overview

The Preschool Substitute role is onsite in Silver Spring, MD, with pay of $19–$24 per hour. Journey Preschool and Journey Together PreK serve children ages 2–5 in the Silver Spring/Wheaton area and seek substitute coverage to keep classrooms operating smoothly. The role exists to maintain continuity of children’s care and learning when a Lead Teacher or Director is absent. The substitute follows classroom plans and routines, supervises children, and may cover Director duties when needed.

What you'll do

• Carry out classroom lesson plans as written
• supervise children indoors and outdoors
• follow routines for arrival, meals, rest, transitions, and pickup
• cover Director duties when needed, including greeting families, answering questions, and overseeing daily operations
• follow licensing, health, and safety rules
• leave an end-of-day note for the regular teacher or Director.
