Job overview
Nuclear Medicine Technologist PRN in Chattanooga, TN. This is an onsite position. Compensation is not specified. This role exists to perform general nuclear medicine and PET CT exams, maintain accreditations for the hot lab, and supervise nuclear technologists. The technologist will also receive, calibrate, log, administer, and monitor radioactive isotopes, and ensure high quality of care.
What you'll do
- Perform and maintain all accreditations for the hot lab.
- Create a department on-call schedule for staff.
- Supervise the nuclear technologists and is the primary point of contact for resolving questions and issues.
- Perform nuclear medicine exams following protocols and in a timely manner, ensuring a high quality of care.
- Receive, calibrate, log, administer and monitor the decay of radioactive isotopes
- Provide radiation safety support in the event of a radiation incident/spill
- Maintain accurate, detailed reports and records.
- Record patients' medical information
- Coordinate patient flow and check the daily list to ensure all exams are complete.
- Inform the patient about the procedure and answer questions.
- Interact and professionally communicate with co-workers, physicians, patients, and family members.
- Maintain all licenses, certifications, and accreditations required as outlined in Job Qualifications

- Prepare patients for and assist with examinations or treatments.
- Prepare education the patient on discharge instructions
- Demonstrate the ability to perform technical skills and procedures.
- Be knowledgeable in the handling of radioactive materials.
- Demonstrate knowledge of human growth and development, assessment, range of treatment, and care of patients appropriate to the ages of patients served.
- Properly measure radioactive waste and know how to dispose of it properly in accordance with regulatory guidelines.
