Job overview

The Optician role is onsite in Austin, TX, with a Monday–Friday schedule from 9 AM to 6 PM. Pay is $17.50–$26.00 per hour, based on experience and valid ABO certification. The role supports McCormick Vision Source, an independent eye care practice with more than 30 years of experience. The optician helps patients choose and care for eyewear while supporting accurate orders and smooth patient flow. The role combines optical guidance, prescription and order processing, eyewear adjustments, insurance communication, and close coordination with doctors, technicians, and front desk staff.

What you'll do

• Guide patients in selecting eyewear based on doctor recommendations
• explain lens options, coatings, materials, and eyewear care
• process eyewear orders and verify prescriptions
• adjust and repair eyewear
• assist patients, answer phones, and check in jobs
• explain vision and medical insurance benefits and collect copays and balances
• verify and prepare eyewear for pickup
• collaborate with doctors, technicians, and front desk staff.
