Senior Accountant

The Senior Accountant role is onsite in Bethesda, MD. The expected salary range is $85,000–$100,000 annually. The position is part of Landon School’s Business Office, supporting an all-boys school serving grades 3–12. Reporting to the Controller, the accountant supports accurate financial records and reporting, close processes, reconciliations, audit preparation, and internal controls. The role also supports fund accounting and collaboration across school departments so financial activity is recorded accurately and on time.

What you'll do

• Prepare journal entries, accruals, allocations, and other accounting entries
• reconcile balance sheet and general ledger accounts
• support monthly and annual close
• prepare financial reports and schedules
• support restricted and unrestricted fund accounting, contributions, endowments, and investments
• prepare audit schedules and documentation
• assist with Form 990 and regulatory filings
• strengthen internal controls and accounting procedures
• collaborate with the Controller, CFO, and other departments.
