Independent Living Instructor

Job overview

The Independent Living Instructor role is onsite in Newark, CA, serving individuals in their homes and community. Pay is $20 per hour. Pathway to Choices provides Independent Living Services to individuals with developmental disabilities. The instructor helps consumers work toward individual service plan and personal goals by teaching practical skills that support independence. The role also provides advocacy, transportation assistance, crisis support, and communication with the people involved in each consumer’s services.

What you'll do

• Teach social, communication, money management, meal planning, self-care, household management, recreation, housing, advocacy, and self-advocacy skills
• support consumers in meeting ISP and personal goals
• assist with transportation and appointments
• report emergencies and suspected abuse or rights violations
• provide crisis intervention and support according to established behavior plans
• communicate with stakeholders
• and complete required records and reports.
