The HDD Locator works onsite in the field in Saint Petersburg, FL, supporting fiber infrastructure projects across assigned Florida project areas. The full-time position pays $33 per hour; schedules may vary with project requirements, weather, inspections, production goals, and customer needs. The role supports underground fiber construction using conduit and microduct systems. The locator helps the directional drill operator complete safe, accurate bores while protecting existing utilities and meeting project specifications. Tracking the drill head, communicating depth and direction, and identifying conflicts supports reliable fiber installation and crew safety.

What you'll do

• Locate and track drill heads during horizontal directional drilling
• provide depth, pitch, direction, and steering information
• communicate continuously with the operator
• help plan bore paths
• read construction prints, utility maps, and bore profiles
• identify existing utilities and assist with potholing
• operate locating equipment
• maintain utility clearances and bore depths
• coordinate conduit and microduct pullback
• document production
• inspect and maintain locating equipment
• follow safety requirements.
