CNC Set-Up Machinist / Operator

The CNC Set-Up Machinist / Operator role is onsite in San Diego, CA, with pay of $38–$45 per hour. VetPowered manufactures, welds, fabricates, and repairs machinery and provides customized training under private and U.S. Government contracts. The machinist independently sets up and operates CNC mills and lathes to produce precision components that meet drawing, quality, and delivery requirements. The role verifies programs and first-piece dimensions, monitors production, and documents setups for repeatability.

What you'll do

• Set up CNC mills and lathes
• verify programs, tooling, workholding, and offsets
• prove out programs safely
• inspect first pieces and make approved adjustments
• monitor machining and part dimensions
• troubleshoot machining issues
• follow AS9100 procedures
• complete setup and inspection records
• maintain traceability and a safe, organized work area.
