Job overview

House Advocate — Part-Time is an onsite role in Palatine, IL, scheduled for 30 hours per week. Compensation is $20–$21.20 per hour. WINGS provides safe shelter and individualized support to people whose lives have been disrupted by domestic violence. The House Advocate helps maintain Safe House and Crisis Line operations while supporting clients’ immediate needs and personal goals. Through crisis intervention, intake, daily house support, referrals, and accurate records, the role contributes to WINGS’ pathway-to-independence services.

What you'll do

• Operate the Crisis Line by providing crisis intervention, counseling, education, safety planning, and referrals
• conduct and approve intake and eligibility evaluations
• interact with guests and model daily living, parenting, and conflict-resolution skills
• coordinate house policies and chores
• identify needs and communicate them to staff
• report building safety concerns
• maintain client files, statistics, census, rosters, and shift reports
• assist with meals and donations
• attend required meetings and training
• report child abuse as required
• work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
