Grocery/Front End Lead

The Grocery/Front End Lead works onsite in Frederick, MD, for $19–$26 per hour. The role supports The Common Market co-op’s front-end customer service and grocery operations. The lead coordinates front-end coverage and grocery tasks, supports staff development, and helps maintain accurate transactions, inventory, and department organization. The position contributes to customer satisfaction and efficient daily operations across the co-op.

What you'll do

• Direct cashier break and shift coverage
• maintain register service coverage and assist with overrides and service desk coverage
• prepare and reconcile cashier tills
• report monetary discrepancies
• resolve customer service issues
• coordinate daily grocery tasks and coach staff
• support performance documentation
• manage back stock, receiving, and product rotation
• assist with merchandising and purchasing
• monitor stock levels and move out-of-stock items to the sales floor
• promote co-op membership.

Why this role

Requires a high school diploma or equivalent experience, two years of retail experience, and one year of familiarity with natural foods. POS and receiving systems experience is strongly preferred; Catapult experience is a plus.
