Daytime Lifeguard

The Daytime Lifeguard role is onsite in Auburn, New York, at 27 William St. Compensation is $16–$16.50 per hour. The lifeguard supports Auburn YMCA aquatic programs and helps participants use the pool safely. The role exists to prevent accidents and respond to emergencies while maintaining order and enforcing pool rules. Through surveillance, reporting, and training, the lifeguard helps ensure safe and effective aquatic programs and supports participants’ physical fitness.

What you'll do

• Maintain constant surveillance of the pool area
• uphold and enforce pool rules
• prevent accidents and respond to emergencies
• report accidents, rescues, hazards, damaged equipment, discipline issues, and complaints
• attend designated staff meetings and training
• secure the pool when closed and unattended
• keep current with lifeguarding information
• follow YMCA policies and procedures.

Why this role

Applicants must be at least 16 and hold current YMCA lifeguarding or equivalent, Basic First Aid, CPR for the Professional Rescuer, and Emergency Oxygen Administration certifications; crossover to YMCA certification is required within six months for those certified elsewhere.
