Construction Inspector – Government Solutions

Job overview

The Construction Inspector – Government Solutions role is hybrid in Monterey, CA, with onsite construction inspections. Compensation is $125,000–$160,000 per year. The inspector supports BKF’s government solutions work by checking construction against contract requirements and applicable permits. The role documents field conditions, identifies variances, and supports project managers and resident engineers with inspection records and technical reviews. By monitoring materials, construction methods, traffic control, and safety, the inspector helps ensure projects conform to approved plans and specifications.

What you'll do

• Inspect and report on construction projects
• advise resident engineers or agency project managers about variances and inform contractors
• take material samples and assist with field tests
• check public utility locations and roadway, slope, and structure grades
• review traffic control plans and field controls
• inspect earthwork, asphalt, concrete, and reinforcing steel
• assist with submittal and change-order reviews
• maintain material records, daily diaries, photo logs, and contract quantities.
