What you'll do

• Assess maternal and newborn vital signs
• administer medication
• monitor contractions
• identify labor and delivery complications
• communicate the mother's condition and needs to physicians
• coach patients during labor and delivery
• provide postpartum care and emotional support. Care may span delivery, mother/baby, postpartum, nursery, and newborn resuscitation.
