The Market Operations Manager, SmartBidder role is hybrid in Boulder, CO, with a schedule of three days in the office and two days remote. The salary range is $120,000–$150,000 per year. Ascend Analytics’ mission is to create sustainable economic value for energy buyers and producers and transform the power industry; SmartBidder supports bidding for battery storage and renewable assets. The manager leads the SmartBidder analyst team and owns operational planning, support coverage, and customer and site onboarding. By building repeatable processes and partnering with Product, Engineering, and Commercial teams, the role helps scale market operations and improve customer outcomes.

What you'll do

• Lead, coach, and develop a team of 4–6 analysts
• manage hiring, onboarding, prioritization, performance, and career development
• own the analyst support rotation, scheduling, handoffs, coverage, triage, and escalation
• oversee new site and customer onboarding and go-live readiness
• plan analyst capacity across customers and markets
• maintain consistent delivery across market operations, strategy configuration, monitoring, and reporting
• develop runbooks, checklists, and training materials
• support automation and AI-enabled workflows
• manage team initiatives and communicate status and risks
• represent analysts with Product and Engineering
• support QA/UAT and release readiness
• track operational health metrics.

Why this role

Hands-on leadership of a growing analyst team supporting more than 5 GW of battery storage assets across ERCOT, CAISO, PJM, and ISONE. Requires 4+ years of relevant experience, 1+ year of people management, project/program management skills, and technical fluency such as basic SQL or Python and understanding of APIs and data feeds.
