Job overview
The Law Clerk or Extern – Criminal Legal Program role is primarily remote in Texas, with the option to work from TCRP offices in Austin, Houston, or Alamo and travel for specified activities. Compensation is for academic credit. The Texas Civil Rights Project’s Criminal Legal Program works with impacted communities on criminal-legal-system reform and reducing the harms of incarceration. Under attorney supervision, the clerk or extern supports civil-rights advocacy through legal research, drafting, case analysis, case management, trial preparation, and community outreach. The role offers hands-on experience assisting attorneys across investigations, advocacy planning, litigation, and court proceedings.
