The Retreat Cook role is onsite in Big Bear Lake, CA, and pays $20 per hour depending on experience and qualifications. Big Bear Retreat Center hosts meditation, dharma, respite, and other mission-aligned retreats. The cook supports the kitchen team in preparing and serving meals that contribute to guests’ retreat experiences. The role helps maintain safe, organized kitchen operations, supports menu work, and collaborates with the Retreat Chef and Kitchen Manager.

What you'll do

• Support daily kitchen operations
• maintain a clean, organized, safe, and efficient kitchen
• prepare food and perform kitchen support duties
• assist with inventory and ordering when the Retreat Chef is absent
• meet food-safety and health-code standards
• prepare vegetarian and non-vegetarian meals and baked goods
• follow recipes and chef direction
• collaborate on menus and procedures
• support retreatants participating in kitchen tasks
• contribute to guest dining experiences.
