Surgical First Assist

The Surgical First Assist role is onsite in Dallas, TX, and is a full-time salaried position with full benefits; compensation is not specified. MPOWERHealth partners with hospitals, health systems, and surgeons to provide patient care through intraoperative neuromonitoring and surgical first-assist services. The role provides hands-on support before, during, and after operating-room procedures. By coordinating with patients and OR staff, maintaining sterile technique, assisting with positioning and transfers, and completing handoffs and documentation, the first assist contributes to safe, coordinated surgical care.

What you'll do

• Serve as primary surgical first assist during procedures
• confirm cases, meet patients, explain procedures, gather documentation, and coordinate with OR staff
• support patient positioning, maintain a sterile field, and anticipate surgeon needs
• assist with patient transfer, provide PACU handoffs, and complete documentation
• contribute to clinical and operational initiatives, including education, training, and process improvement.

Why this role

OR-only role; not a locums, travel, or staffing position. Requires at least two years of surgical assisting experience, hands-on experience in orthopedics, spine, general, GYN, and robotics, graduation from an accredited PA/NP/CSFA program, and ability to acquire a Minnesota state license. Relocation assistance is available; spine experience is a plus.
