The Adjunct Music and Theatre Instructors role is based in Kansas City, MO; remote appointments may be possible depending on course needs and at the Dean’s discretion. Compensation is not specified. Avila University’s School of Performing Arts provides instruction in music and theatre courses. Instructors teach assigned courses, develop lesson plans, assess student progress, and coach students in related projects and productions. What you'll do

  • Teach assigned music or theatre courses, including lectures, applied lessons, and interdisciplinary classes
  • develop course outlines and lesson plans aligned with curriculum and learning objectives
  • assess student progress and provide feedback
  • coach students in assigned co-curricular projects or productions
  • conduct sessions according to schedule, in person and/or online
  • collaborate with faculty, the program Chair, and Production Managers
  • participate in professional development.

Contracted on a per-semester basis; remote appointments may be possible depending on course needs and at the Dean’s discretion. A master’s degree or higher in a relevant discipline, or a master’s degree with 18 graduate credit hours in the discipline, is required.
