The Universal Prekindergarten Teaching Assistant role is onsite at locations that vary within the Cohoes City School District; the listing is based in Albany, NY. The role supports the Universal Prekindergarten department in collaboration with the school district. Working with the Lead Teacher, the assistant helps plan and deliver age-appropriate instruction and classroom activities for children ages 3–4, supports classroom management and student development, and helps maintain a safe, nurturing learning environment.

What you'll do

  • Assist with weekly lesson plans and classroom materials
  • develop and implement hands-on activities
  • use the Learning Without Tears curriculum and 2nd-Step program
  • support instruction, small groups, and individual students
  • complete progress and attendance documentation
  • assist with classroom management
  • monitor student safety and development
  • support IEPs or behavior plans as directed.
