Product Development Engineer — Seals and Bearings

Job overview

The Product Development Engineer role is onsite in Petersburg, VA. Compensation is $75,000–$95,000 per year. The role supports Amsted Rail Petersburg, a producer of tapered roller bearings and precision sealing solutions, and works with the company’s global product team. The engineer develops seal or bearing products from concept through realization, translating customer needs into marketable engineered products. The role also supports quality, testing, documentation, and continuous improvement across product development and manufacturing activities.

What you'll do

• Drive innovation within seals engineering
• establish and enforce engineering practices for change management, documentation, new product introduction, design, project management, and continuous improvement
• work with customer product development teams to meet requirements
• create design criteria and process capabilities
• support plant quality assurance
• provide engineering support to joint venture partners when assigned
• create technical drawings and documentation
• participate in DFMEAs and product testing
• present results to customers when assigned
• develop FEA, CAD, and design-methodology expertise
• coordinate with vendors on specifications and equipment or materials.
