Community Forestry Associate — South and Southeast Los Angeles

The Community Forestry Associate role is onsite in Los Angeles, CA, supporting projects in the South and Southeast Los Angeles region and surrounding communities. Pay is $22 per hour. TreePeople’s Community Forestry program engages and supports residents in taking environmental action; this grant-funded, time-limited position is expected to continue through November 3, 2028, subject to funding and project needs. The associate carries out field-based tree planting and maintenance, volunteer coordination, outreach, and data collection. The work helps implement community projects and maintain accurate records for planting, maintenance planning, and funding compliance.

What you'll do

• Plant and maintain 15-gallon street trees
• support workshops, volunteer events, site visits, and event setup and breakdown
• transport and water trees by truck
• coordinate volunteers
• maintain tools, trucks, and accurate GPS and site-map data
• follow field safety procedures
• document site conditions and potential planting locations
• support canvassing, recruitment, follow-up, and distribution of approved outreach materials.
