The Staff Engineer, Commerce Platform role is hybrid and based in the Greater Seattle Area, with a minimum expectation of working from the downtown Seattle office two days per week, Mondays and Thursdays. The stated first-year salary range is $182,290–$260,000 per year. Rover’s mission is to make it easier for people to experience the love of pets. The engineer sets technical direction for the transaction lifecycle and builds reliable systems for checkout, payments, orders, taxes, and payouts. The role partners across engineering, Finance, Accounting, and Compliance to support accurate, secure, and auditable transactions as Rover grows.

What you'll do

• Build a working understanding of orders, fees, credits, discounts, taxes, and payouts
• set technical direction for the transaction lifecycle
• turn cross-team problems into aligned plans
• work with Finance, Accounting, and Compliance on accounting and regulatory requirements
• contribute through design and code reviews
• mentor engineers and influence technical practices beyond the team.
