Vocational Counselor

The Vocational Counselor works onsite in Rochester, NY. Pay is $20–$21 per hour. The role supports CDS Monarch’s vocational programs and rehabilitation services. The counselor assesses vocational strengths and needs, develops service plans, and provides guidance and case management to help individuals build work skills and achieve vocational goals. The role coordinates with individuals, families, and professionals to support vocational growth and independent functioning.

What you'll do

• Complete intake documentation and service plans
• arrange transportation and orient participants to program policies
• assess vocational strengths, needs, and career interests
• provide vocational counseling and case management
• teach job-readiness and work-adjustment skills
• monitor work performance and progress with supervisors
• coordinate referrals and other services
• provide crisis intervention
• maintain required records and reports
• complete situational assessments and case closure activities. Some duties may include use of a personal vehicle for business travel.

Why this role

Bachelor’s degree in vocational rehabilitation, career counseling, or guidance and counseling preferred; a related human services degree accepted. One year working with the MR/DD population is desired.
