Data Architect — Federal Data Modernization

Job overview

The Data Architect role is hybrid, mostly remote, with meetings at the U.S. Department of Agriculture in Washington, DC. Compensation is not specified. CMT Services supports federal, state, and local government agencies with professional services aligned to clients’ missions and strategic business goals. The architect designs enterprise data strategy, models, and integration patterns while defining governance standards and leading data modernization and cloud architecture initiatives. The role supports USDA data modernization through architecture, migration planning, governance, systems integration, Lakehouse support, and knowledge transfer.

What you'll do

• Lead enterprise and data architecture blueprints, system inventories, solution architecture, governance standards, decommissioning strategy, FinOps, and architecture reviews
• lead data migration strategy, plans, timelines, crosswalks, mapping rules, trial migrations, and reconciliation
• lead metadata standards, stewardship, lineage, and authoritative data sources
• design APIs, integrations, interfaces, ETL/ELT pipelines, remediation, and integration testing
• lead Databricks Lakehouse architecture, security design, common data models, migration frameworks, reporting, and analytics
• provide training, SOPs, workshops, shadowing sessions, documentation, and repository management.
