Lead Machine Builder

Job overview

The Lead Machine Builder role is onsite in Grand Rapids, MI, with approximately 20% travel to customer sites, including domestic and international destinations. Compensation is $29–$34 per hour, with the opportunity for overtime and travel pay. The role reports to the Build Manager at Axis Automation. This position combines hands-on assembly and debugging with floor leadership, coordinating builders and owning schedules and quality outcomes. It supports delivery of custom automation machinery through planning, mentoring, and collaboration with engineering and project teams.

What you'll do

• Build advanced mechanical subsystems and custom automation machinery
• lead mechanical debugging and root-cause analysis
• coordinate machine builders and own build schedules, quality, and on-time delivery
• review and approve build quality
• collaborate with mechanical and controls engineers, technicians, and project management
• travel to customer sites for installation support
• plan, coordinate, and mentor
• uphold company operating principles.
