Optician / Certified Optician

The Optician / Certified Optician role is onsite at 435 N. Michigan Ave. in Chicago, IL, with compensation of $20–$24 per hour. The optician helps patients select and receive eyewear suited to their vision needs by working with optometrist recommendations, fitting and adjusting frames, educating patients about lens options, and checking orders for quality. The role also supports patient service, inventory, records, and insurance billing.

What you'll do

• Conduct pre-examination assessments
• work with the optometrist on patient vision requirements
• help patients select frames and lenses
• measure and fit eyeglasses and contact lenses
• educate patients on lens options
• monitor orders and delays
• assess orders before pickup
• manage inventory with colleagues
• provide customer service
• perform patient-record, store-operation, and insurance-billing tasks
• make follow-up calls.
