The AI Developer — Responsible AI Solutions role is onsite in Reston, VA. The annual salary range is $120,000–$155,000. The developer supports Cobalt Benefits Group, a healthcare third-party administrator, by building governed AI solutions to improve operational efficiency and member experience. The role turns approved use cases into production-ready AI assistants, document-extraction agents, and workflows. It partners with business owners, DevOps, IT Security, Compliance, and AI governance stakeholders to integrate solutions securely and establish reusable patterns for responsible AI delivery.

What you'll do

• Design, prototype, build, test, and deploy AI applications and agents
• develop RAG solutions and grounded responses with citations
• integrate internal and third-party systems through authenticated APIs
• apply access controls and PHI/PII protections
• create evaluation harnesses and monitor quality, latency, and cost
• implement telemetry, runbooks, and operational monitoring
• advance solutions through governance decision gates
• collaborate with risk, compliance, security, and ethics stakeholders
• share reusable components and approved prompt patterns.

Why this role
