What you'll do

• Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collection
• collect blood, urine, swab, and other specimens according to test requirements
• verify patient identity
• review requisitions and collection requirements
• label, process, prepare, and package specimens
• follow order-of-draw and specimen-handling procedures
• instruct patients on collection and preparation
• monitor patients during and after collection
• respond to difficult draws and escalate concerns
• maintain a clean, stocked work area
• follow OSHA, infection-control, bloodborne-pathogen, and laboratory safety requirements.
