Gas Locate Technician

Job overview

The Gas Locate Technician role is onsite in Indian Trail, NC, with compensation of $20 per hour. USIC provides underground utility damage prevention and infrastructure services; its Advanced Gas Operations division serves gas customers. The technician locates and marks underground gas lines to help prevent damage to utility infrastructure and protect public safety. The role involves independent outdoor fieldwork, following damage-prevention guidelines, and documenting clear mark-outs for excavators or property owners.

What you'll do

• Use locating equipment to determine gas-line locations and mark them with paint and flags
• some hand digging may be required. Develop knowledge of underground utility infrastructure and follow company, client, state, and federal damage-prevention guidelines. Depending on assignment, may locate utilities in addition to gas lines.

Why this role

No prior locating experience is needed; training is provided. Must be available for overtime, weekends, and on-call shifts, including nights and weekends, as needed. Local travel during the business day is required; some out-of-area or overnight travel may be expected.
