Compensation is $36.37–$54.69 per hour. The role works with a multidisciplinary team to improve the completeness and accuracy of clinical documentation. The specialist reviews patient records and works with physicians and health information management coders to ensure documentation reflects diagnoses, severity of illness, and risk of mortality. Through concurrent and retrospective reviews, documentation queries, audits, and data tracking, the role supports accurate coding and documentation processes.

What you'll do

• Review assigned cases and audit documentation for consistency and standards
• communicate with physicians to clarify information and obtain needed documentation
• confer with HIM coders and the Physician Advisor as needed
• conduct concurrent and retrospective patient reviews
• identify principal and secondary diagnoses, complications, comorbidities, and procedures that reflect severity of illness and risk of mortality
• identify documentation improvement opportunities
• maintain tracking data and develop action plans to support team goals
• comply with applicable regulations and company policies.
