The Principal Data & AI Governance Architect role is listed onsite in Arlington, VA; qualified remote candidates may be considered if they reside in a state where Kapitus or a subsidiary has an established physical presence. The base salary range is $117,800–$189,000 per year, with eligibility for annual incentive compensation up to 10%. The role supports the Enterprise Data Governance program within the CDAO organization. This senior individual-contributor role designs and operationalizes enterprise data governance and establishes initial risk-based model and AI governance capabilities. It translates policies and standards into practical operating practices and increasingly automated controls, partnering with business, risk, compliance, and technical teams to support responsible data, analytics, and AI use.

What you'll do

• Architect and operationalize the enterprise Data Governance framework, including policies, standards, decision rights, escalation and exception processes, evidence requirements, reporting, and operating cadences
• activate a federated stewardship model
• establish governance for critical data assets and data quality
• partner with engineering, analytics, BI, product, and architecture teams to embed requirements
• serve as functional product owner for Atlan and related governance capabilities
• establish risk-based model and AI lifecycle governance
• partner with Risk, Compliance, Legal, Information Security, Procurement, Product, Operations, and technical teams.
