Job overview

The International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) / Export Administration Regulations (EAR) Compliance Specialist role is onsite in Sterling, VA. Compensation is not specified. The specialist supports Heven AeroTech, a developer of hydrogen-powered drones and advanced aerospace technologies. The role owns day-to-day export compliance activities, advising business units and supporting compliant development and commercialization. Work includes managing authorizations, classifications, the export compliance program, risk assessments, training, restricted-party screening, regulatory engagement, and cross-functional compliance processes. The posting requires five or more years of relevant export-control experience, a bachelor’s degree in a related field, and U.S. Person status as defined under ITAR.

What you'll do

  • Prepare and manage export license applications, TAAs, MLAs, and other authorizations
  • maintain license tracking
  • conduct commodity jurisdiction and ECCN determinations
  • develop and improve the Export Compliance Program
  • conduct risk assessments and audits
  • maintain Technology Control Plans
  • prepare voluntary self-disclosures with legal counsel
  • deliver awareness training
  • screen parties against restricted lists
  • support transaction due diligence
  • serve as a DDTC and BIS contact
  • monitor regulatory developments
  • partner across business functions
  • advise on access controls for controlled technical data.
